I am the Anonymous Scribe, known also to my inner circle of friends by the pseudonym, Belle Pensée. When I was 29 years old, I made a conscious decision to follow my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and I have not looked back since. In my daily walk with Him, even though I stumble again and again, He is always there to lift me up and continues to be my best friend and guide in times of challenge and trouble.
I first became fascinated with calligraphy when I was eleven years old. One of my classmates in fifth grade let me try out her orange chisel-tipped marker, and I was hooked thereafter. As a child I would practice and experiment for hours using a Speedball Lettering book and photocopied templates as my only teachers. I also looked to other gifted artists for creative ideas and inspiration, namely Timothy Botts and Sheila Waters, as well as the scribes of the Middle Ages who conveyed the Scriptures so beautifully to parchment. To this day I have yet to take a formal class in calligraphy, which I would still like to do some day if an opportunity ever presents itself.
I see calligraphy as a natural link between art and spirituality. There is power in the written word, and even more so in the Written Word. It is my fervent hope, prayer, and intention to present God's Word, the Bible, in the most beautiful and affecting way I can. And if my work is at all an encouragement or a comfort to anyone, then all the praise, honor, and glory go to Him.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.
